Understanding Aperture

Aperture is the amount of light you are letting into your camera. The smaller the aperture, the more focus you will have on one subject. In picture 1, my aperture was 3.5 and it was only focusing on my phone. It gave that picture a lower depth of field and blurred out the background. On the second photo, my aperture was slightly higher, letting more light in. This made it have a larger depth of field. Also, the shutter speed has to deal with the amount of time that the light has to get into the camera. The aperture affects how much light can get it, there for affecting the shutter speed.
