Final Project Composition

These pictures represent my daily life. I used the first dark picture of my house at night to represent worm's eye view. I remember thinking my house was so tall and big when I was little. So, it would make sense to take a picture of me looking up at my house. The next picture the the right, is a picture of the mountains I pass going up to my grandparents. This picture represents framing. Personally, I think the trees hide the mountains in the spring and summer, but by winter time, the trees lose their beauty only to show off the mountain's. The next picture on the bottom left is a picture of flowers my boyfriend got me. He gets me flowers once a month just because. The flowers are very meaningful to me. They represent variety because of all of the different, vibrant colors. The next picture is a picture of my shrubs in front of my porch. They never lose their color and look beautiful all year round. This picture represents repetition because of the repeating shapes of the leaves. The shrubs thick green color continues to repeat itself year round. The last picture is of my one dog Dixie. My mom and I always make jokes about how she's dark black and she thinks she can blend into light color furniture. Dixie likes to sit on my ivory colored been bag in my room everyday and just looks so innocent. (But she's not :) ) This picture represent emphasis because of her dark fur up against the light ivory furniture.
These pictures also represent my daily life. I used the blinds and the candle as simplicity. I tried to have a simple white photo with minimal colors in it. The picture is mainly focused on the orange glow coming from the candle. Every morning I wake up, the candles are the first things I see. The next picture to the right of it is our formal dining room. I used symmetrical balance to try to make the picture flow more. We only use this dining room on special occasions or for holidays so this room is always festive. The picture of the strings of the piano represent leading lines. For some reason I am always mesmerized by how the million different direction of strings can make such beautiful music. My friends are very important to me. I spend 6 or 7 days a week with them for 2 and more hours for 11 months so you can imagine how close we become. I used bird's eye view to show two of my really good friends, but try to connect the rest of my team/ second family in the background. Every day I walk off of my porch to get to the bus and the snow was sparkling that morning so I took a picture of it to represent texture. I'm not a big fan of winter but I do love snow when it's a pretty white, sparkly texture.

Final Project Composition Proposal

For my final project for composition, I plan to make things simple and clean. In my opinion, a good photograph shouldn't have to be chaotic to get the message across. I plan to take about a third of my photos around my house and outside, and the others where I go. I spend a lot of time at cheer practice and at the gym, so I could take a photo or two there. Also, I plan to a picture of two with my friends. I am on the taller side compared to some of my friends so I could use "Bird's Eye View" to take those pictures.
Shot 1: Every morning I wake up I see my candles in my windows. So I could use that as simplicity by taking a picture of just one candle.

Shot 2: I usually am rushing around to eat breakfast and don't have time to really appreciate the table. My mom is an interior decorator and she likes balancing out the room. So, I could use the dinning room as symmetrical balance by taking a picture of the dinning room in a creative way.

Shot 3: I walk outside my front porch to go to school everyday and I really like the way the snow sparkles on the sidewalk. I could take a picture of the snow up close to create a textured photo.

Shot 4-6: After school I go to practice everyday. I love my team and we're like one big family so I was thinking about taking a few photos of them maybe in bird's eye view. I was thinking about taking a picture of when we're in our stunt sequences because I think it looks really cool as a worm's eye view looking up at a stunt. Also, to show movement have them to jumps in the air and capture that.

Shot 7: After practice and doing my homework, I like to play the piano. Piano is very important to me because when I'm stressed out, it helps calm me by escaping the world of grades and stress. I'm thinking about taking a picture of the piano keys in a leading lines way.

Shot 8: My younger sister and I have a very funny but close relationship. So, I was thinking about using her as a subject and maybe use framing.

Shot 9: In my free time, I like to take my dogs on walks, so maybe I could use the outdoors with them to take advantage of the horizon line.

Shot 10: I'm going to try to take a photo of the sky (as long as the stars are out) and use repetition. Because it's night time, it would only make sense to take a picture of the sky.

Photographic Composition Video

This unit I have learned what it means to actually photograph an object. Instead of just snapping a picture like anyone else could, you have to have the knowledge of elements and principles of composition. By knowing these techniques, you can take your photo from just a snapshot to a work of art. Not all subjects are exciting and fascinating, but by using a different point of view like worm's eye or bird's eye, you can make it interesting. There are many more techniques you can use to make a picture interesting; by knowing them your photo can have a solid composition.
